Carmen de la Frontera
Carmen de la Frontera is a district in the Huancabamba province of Peru’s Piura region, bordering both Namballe in Cajamarca and Ecuador. This remote region extends into the clouds, around 3,000 meters above sea level, where potatoes and tubers are the only crops grown. At coffee-growing heights, coffee is interspersed with sugar cane production for their own use. The recent completion of a new road has improved market access and producers here have embraced the specialty coffee market.
This community lot is distinctive and balanced: plenty full-bodied with a nice tartness (cherry-like) and candied citrus sweetness.
Imported by Red Fox Coffee Merchants. Caturra, Catimor, Catuai, Bourbon, Typica, and Pache varieties. 1,600-2,000 MASL. Wet Process.
