This coffee comes to us by way of Kalsada Coffee -- an organization championing Philippine specialty coffee. The Philippines have a deep coffee history dating back centuries but have largely been overlooked as a source for specialty coffee. That's rapidly changing and for good reason; the coffees are stellar, dynamic and unique.
Kalsada's coffee is consumed domestically where there is a strong and growing specialty market. We consider ourselves very fortunate to have been able to buy some of their limited exports.
This specific lot comes from El Paraiso Farms, which was founded in 1934 to cultivate coffee, fruits, and vegetables. In 2018, the farm's management reached out to Kalsada for assistance with coffee crop management and post-harvest processing. They've since rejuvenated older trees and improved processing. The result is a delightful coffee, with mild acidity and a taste reminiscent of Biscoff cookies.
Harvested 2024. 1,400 - 1,700 MASL. Mixed Varieties. Washed.
